The Cambridge Audio AXA25 integrated amplifier is a junior model of this class in its series, but has impeccable design quality. The device is made in a metal case of standard sizes, and the design of its front panel can be considered classic for Hi-Fi equipment.
In the center of the front panel of the amplifier there is a volume control knob, on either side of which there are tone controls for low and high frequencies, stereo balance, and an input selector. The tone control is made relatively shallow to increase its accuracy and obtain the most natural tonal balance. Also on the front panel of the Cambridge Audio AXA25 is a 3.5 mm input jack, which is convenient for connecting portable players or smartphones. The remaining inputs, represented by RCA connectors, are located on the rear panel. In total, up to five signal sources can be connected to the amplifier, which will create a completely universal audio system. The device also has an RCA output for connecting a recording device, which can also be used, for example, to supply a signal to an external headphone amplifier. A nice addition to the Cambridge Audio AXA25 is the presence of a USB connector, which can be used to supply power to an external device, for example, a Bluetooth module. To connect speakers, the Cambridge Audio AXA25 features reliable screw terminals that accept either stripped speaker cable ends or banana plugs.
The amplifier develops a relatively low output power of 25 W per channel, but has a fairly high load damping rate. This means that the device is capable of confidently controlling bookshelf or small floor-standing speakers, although to work with it it is better to choose models with a sensitivity of at least 89 - 90 dB.
