Description
The integrated amplifier Teac AX-505 belongs to the popular 505 series, which consists of Hi-Fi components made in a compact form factor.
The model uses specially tuned D-class amplifier modules Hypex NСore with a high reputation among audio. At the same time, an overload-resistant toroidal transformer is installed in the power supply unit, as well as a rectifier equipped with fast Schottky diodes, thanks to which work efficiency is increased, noise is reduced and dynamics are improved. The amplifier has protection against overheating, current overload, exceeding the permissible voltage value and outputs 115 W per channel at 4 Ohm load or 70 W at 8 Ohm.
The amplifier has a fully balanced circuit topology and is equipped with high-quality components, including the well-known Muses operational amplifiers, designed specifically for audio. To adjust the volume level, a high-precision regulator with a step of 0.5 dB is used. The Teac AX-505 is also a built-in QA headphone amplifier with a 3.5 mm balanced 4-pin output, built according to the CCLC (Coupling Capacitor Less Circuit) scheme, ie. there are no sound-deteriorating separating capacitors in its path. The strengths of this device should also include a low coefficient of harmonic distortion and a wide frequency range, which is especially important when listening to high-resolution audio formats.
The Teac AX-505 amplifier is assembled in an anti-vibration aluminum case with stylized "river" knobs protruding beyond it, which are traditionally equipped with all components of the 505 series. Only passive cooling is used here, since Hypex Ncore modules operating in D-class do not emit a lot of heat. On the facade of the amplifier, two round arrow indicators of the level of the output signal look great, which give it a special "lamp" charm, hinting at kinship with the best examples of Hi-Fi equipment of previous generations. The indicators have backlighting with 4-level adjustment and can be turned off completely if necessary. The model has the function of automatic transition to standby mode in the absence of a signal for a certain period of time and is equipped with a universal remote control.
On the rear panel of the Teac AX-505 there is a set of line inputs with an increased distance between connectors for ease of switching, a balanced XLR-input and two pairs of fairly large screw terminals for connecting speakers.
