Stirling GR
Description
The main thing in the sound of Tannoy Stirling GR speakers is a surprisingly clear "presence effect" of musicians in front of the audience. The performers seem to "appear" on the stage, while the speakers, on the contrary, "dissolve" and it seems that the music exists by itself. The sound stage is not blurred, and all musicians confidently take their places between the speakers. This effect is the sole merit of the proprietary Tannoy Dual Concentric Gold Reference coaxial driver.
Tannoy Stirling GR speakers do not have the "anatomical detail" that you can get by purchasing multi-band floor monitors for a comparable price. But there is a feeling of "warmth and coziness" during long listening. And for many music lovers it is this feeling that is decisive when choosing speakers.
Certainly, special attention is paid to the transmission of middle frequencies. Interestingly, the tweeter starts working from 1.3 kHz. In fact, it takes over a part of the midrange load, and at the same time plays with the same horn openness, which is so appreciated by fans of tubes, vinyl and old rare records. However, the Tannoy Stirling GR also presents modern music in a surprisingly "zealous" way, as if reviving the originally dead electronic synthesized voices. His majesty the bass is quite deep and agile, but intelligent and tactful in an English way.
The year 2013 marks the 45th anniversary of Prestige, the most recognizable and popular family of speakers by the legendary Scottish company Tannoy. To mark this anniversary Tannoy decided to release new models incorporating technologies that appeared after the completion of Prestige SE series development and proved to be successful during the creation of the flagship Royal Kingdom and very successful, according to experts, Definition DC10A high-end system. The names of all models of the new series, given in honor of famous castles, have remained traditionally unchanged, like the British monarchy itself: Westminster Royal, Canterbury, Kensington, Turnberry and Stirling.
