The component is essentially two separate monoblocks and a pre-amplifier placed on one printed circuit board. During its development, many original design solutions were used, first implemented in the legendary Musical Fidelity Nu-Vista 800 model.
The amplifier with an output power of 150 W per channel (at 8 Ohms) is close in its technical data to the more expensive M6si model and is characterized by high linearity over the entire frequency range, as well as very low distortion and noise.
It is equipped with a built-in DAC and has a digital input: an asynchronous USB port (Type B) that accepts streams with sampling rates up to 24-bit/96 kHz. It also has an MM phono stage. Of the five linear RCA inputs, one is switchable - it can transmit the signal directly to the power amplification unit, which allows you to integrate the M5si into a DC system. There is also an RCA output from the preamp (fixed or adjustable level).
The device can be remotely controlled using two 3.5 mm trigger connectors (input and output).
