The 404 can be supplied with an MM/MC phono stage. It adheres to all the quality principles on which the 404 is built. It also uses quality components and massive power supplies to efficiently use the op amps with very low noise and high performance.
The gain in the MM/MC phono stage can be adjusted simply by changing the position of the DIP switches. The MC input load can also be adjusted by replacing the original 100 ohm input resistor with a higher or lower value. No soldering required.
