The top model of the Rubicon series speakers, indexed 8, is equipped with an enhanced bass section consisting of three speakers. With a body height of just over a meter, the speakers are not too noticeable in a modern interior, which is also facilitated by high-quality external finishing. Careful installation of the emitters on the front panel allows the speaker to look good with the protective mesh removed, which has an invisible magnetic fixation.
The DALI Rubicon 8 is equipped with three 165mm woofers, one of which is driven through a traditional crossover filter, and the other two are driven a further half-band down each. This required a lot of work to precisely match all three woofers, but produced excellent results in terms of sound quality.
Thanks to this design of the low-frequency section, the speakers reproduce bass starting from 38 Hz, which is an excellent indicator for fairly compact speakers. An additional advantage of this solution is the smoothness and refinement of the bass range with accurate reproduction of short impulse sounds. The bass drivers are loaded onto a bass reflex, which is tuned to a frequency of 33.5 Hz. The crossover filter between the low and high frequencies in the DALI Rubicon 8 speaker is set to 2500 Hz, which is optimal for accurate reproduction of live acoustic recordings
The high-frequency section of the DALI Rubicon 8 consists of a tweeter with a fabric dome with a diameter of 28 mm, as well as a ribbon tweeter with a radiating membrane area of 17 x 45 mm. Thanks to this, the operating frequency range of the speaker system was expanded to 34,000 Hz, and its sound was made airy and crystal clear. The crossover filter between these heads is set to 14,000 Hz, which made it possible to level out the frequency response of the speaker in the high-frequency region. For connection to the amplifier, two pairs of gold-plated screw terminals are provided.
The body is reinforced with specially designed internal braces and has damping that prevents sound coloration even at maximum power input. The latter for the DALI Rubicon 8 is up to 250 W, which, with a speaker sensitivity of 90.5 dB, allows you to develop quite noticeable sound pressure in the listening room. The kit includes spikes and damping self-adhesive supports.
