A large layer of Wharfedale brand history is connected with Linton speakers. These models embodied the key ideas of the company, realized in the 60s, 70s and 80s of the last century. The general rules for the entire line - high-quality sound, high level of assembly and attractive price tag - were formulated back in 1965! Actually, it was then that the first version of the speaker of the same name was released.
Linton speaker system is similar to Denton 85th Anniversary in terms of its design, but it is tailored for the playback with a much larger dynamic range (SPL can reach 110 dB). The bass part is given to a 20-centimeter head with a Kevlar cone. The range of 630 - 2400 Hz is covered by a lightweight 135 mm driver, the membrane of which is also formed of the proprietary Black Woven Kevlar composite. The squawker is identical to the one used in Denton, with a silk dome and ferrite in the magnetic system. Both phase inverter ports are located on the rear panel. The connection is single-ended.
Wharfedale has produced stylish vintage stands specially for this speaker system - extremely solid, heavy and, by the way, functional (you can store vinyl records in them). I would also draw your attention to the protective dust covers. The fabric that is stretched over the frame (the latter is fixed on the front side in the usual way - on steel pins) does not just resemble an antique. The chosen synthetic material feels thick and elastic to the touch - the unusual three-dimensional weave probably has a special effect on the acoustic properties.
