Product information
With the VPI Prime turntable model, VPI Industries Inc. focused on the beginner audiophile category, trying to get them to focus on vinyl in general and on a turntable that is of high end quality and combines all the company's know-how at the time, as well as the latest technology.
The VPI Prime is the first VPI turntable to be custom designed by Mat Weisfeld.
Prime was designed with two main goals in mind: to have a more rounded and smoother body shape than the "classic" VPI turntables built over the previous ten years, and at the same time be able to mount a 10" 3D VPI tonearm. .
VPI Prime Player Features:
- The chassis is constructed from MDF covered in high quality textured vinyl and reinforced with 2mm thick steel sheet to control resonances and isolate external vibrations.
- The four corner mounts are made of Delrin and protect the chassis from vibrations.
- The 24-pole AC synchronous motor is housed in a separate steel and aluminum housing and ensures quiet operation and smooth transfer of power to the disc.
- The inverted bearing consists of a hardened steel shaft with a hardened chrome ball on the top that has a hardness of 60 HRC and a phosphor bronze cup with a PEEK (PolyEtherEtherKetone) thrust plate.
- The drive belt runs in the middle of the bearing, which negates the seesaw effect.
- The 9.0 kg aluminum disc is made to +/- 0.02 mm tolerance from 6061 alloy and has a circumference of 991 mm.
- The motor pulley is manufactured with a tolerance of +/- 0.001 mm.
