VPI Avenger is a manual control vinyl record player. Playback speed: 33/45 RPM. Tonearm: Single-pivot composite JMW 12-3D, cartridge not included. Aluminum platter. Synchronous AC motor in a separate housing. Dimensions, WxH: 545 x 395 mm. Weight: 24.3 kg.
The VPI Avenger turntable, the prototype of which was developed by Harry Weisfield 12 years ago, has an open-type design with a multi-layered base in the form of a unique anti-resonance sandwich consisting of two 20-centimeter acrylic segments and one aluminum segment with damping material between the layers.
The Avenger can accommodate three radial tonearms ranging from 9 to 12 inches, produced using 3D printing and symmetrically positioned relative to the geometric center. The platter is made of special non-magnetic steel and aluminum and weighs 9 kg.
The external synchronous 24-pole motor with a rotation speed of 300 RPM provides low detent torque and stability of the platter rotation.
Possible improvements and modifications:
Peripheral clamp ring for correcting geometric defects of the record
ADS motor control block (Analog Drive System) to ensure precise motor speed and convenient speed switching
Avenger Rim-Drive (roller drive system, requires ADS)
Avenger Reference Magnetic Drive (heavier platter on a magnetic suspension)
Avenger Reference Feet (supports with better mechanical isolation from the Avenger Reference model)
JMW-12-3DR tonearm (tonearm with Nordost Reference wiring)
Additional platforms for installing tonearms, including those from third-party manufacturers
Additional JMW tonearms.
