Description

The German company Vincent and its TAC (Tube Amp Company) division have released the TAC 34 Dream integrated tube amplifier. And, apparently, they gave it the name "dream" for a reason. You can really dream about such a device. You want to admire the design, which is jokingly called a breadbox, without turning on the phono. The massive metal chassis is divided into two parts: a reliable cover covering transformers and choke rises on the rear side, and a little more than the front half is covered with a mirror chrome plate, on which the heroes of the occasion - radio tubes of the best quality - are mounted.

On the front there is a mains switch and two round knobs located on the right, in a rectangular recess with a chrome surface, which are the logarithmic volume control and input selector. There are four stereo RCA input jacks and two three-way screw terminals on the rear for connecting speakers with 4 or 8 ohm impedance. The amplifier circuit is two-stage, based on four EL34 pentodes. Four double 6N3 triodes serve the preliminary stage in both channels - they monitor the out-of-phase voltage, which affects the power of the final stage. The highlight of the tubes are two power indicators (6E2 "Magic Eye"), whose bulbs have vertical strips of phosphor pulsating in a greenish-milk color, evoking a sense of nostalgia for the years gone by.
