And this is not just another update, but a new device. The experience of the predecessor, together with the experience of working with AK chips, allowed us to realize a rather interesting device. Both in terms of form factor and quality-to-price ratio. The device has, for example, a pair of outputs for balanced and unbalanced connection.

And based on the new DAC device from AKM AK4493SEQ. Which is rare nowadays. Especially in devices of this form factor. But looking back, it's easy to see that Shanling's relationship with AK chips has always been successful. So we have the experience. The plant has recently successfully restored its DAC production capacity. And now the new products have already given rise to new devices of the current form factor.
It was decided to use two dedicated Ricore RT6963 amplification circuits in the amplification part. This allows you to fully unleash the potential of the chip and achieve a natural and emotional sound. At the same time, it supports decoding of records in high resolution - DSD 512 and 32-bit/768 kHz PCM.
Compatibility
In addition, it is important to note the high compatibility of Shanling UA3. It is able to work with sources running Android, Windows, Mac and iOS. The latter require a special Lightning cable. The device is compatible with UAC2.0 and UAC1.0 modes, which will be very useful when used with game consoles such as Nintendo Switch, etc.
Two outputs
Among other advantages, despite its rather compact size, engineers managed to implement several outputs at once. These are the usual 3.5 unbalanced and 4.4 balanced outputs of the current standard. At the same time, the device is equipped with a power of up to 125 mW @ 32 Ohms from the unbalanced output and up to 211 mW from the balanced output. That is quite enough for use not only with in-channel but also with many full-size models. And this is in a compact, convenient case that does not take up much space in your pocket!
It is also worth noting the extremely low noise level at both outputs. This also has a positive effect on the sound quality in general and on the use with sensitive models in particular.
It is also convenient that the DAC has physical volume and playback buttons on the case.
Materials.
The case of the device is aluminum. The coating with a special paint provides high resistance to wear. Metal, in its turn, is good not only in terms of strength. It effectively shields interference and dissipates heat. At the same time, we managed to make the device quite compact and solid. Shanling UA3 looks good, yet it is compact and convenient.
