At Pro-Ject, balanced connections were still exclusive to our RS product line. The Phono Box DS3 B model offers some of the premium features of the Phono Box RS2 at an affordable price and reliable Pro-Ject quality. One of them is our new True Balanced Connection.
High quality features and unlimited downloads
The Phono Box DS3 B uses a steel chassis surrounded by aluminum panels. This design provides very high rigidity and isolation from obstacles, which is very important for the new technology inside. Magnetic wood side panels are available separately as accessories. You can connect up to two players at the same time - all parameters of each input are stored in memory. Perfectly combine the Phono Box DS3 B with a wide range of cartridges. The load impedance can be continuously set using the system potentiometer invented by Pro-Ject Audio Systems, adjusting the impedance during playback and evaluating the effect of different load options in real time. No other manufacturer implements this feature so elegantly!
Balanced by nature
Cartridges are inherently balanced signal converters! Due to the internal dilution of the MM cartridges, you will need an MC cartridge to access the full balanced signal. Together with our new True Balanced Connection cables, you'll be able to access high-end features previously only available on the most expensive phono stage. And best of all, any Pro-Ject player with RCA, miniXLR or 5P output can do it!
Technical deep diving
Phono Box DS3 B includes a real, fully balanced amplifier stage. Whether you're using an unbalanced RCA connection or a balanced connection, in either case, the fully balanced gain stage can optimize the signal-to-noise ratio, giving the fully passive and discrete RIAA equalization stage a clean signal to work wonders on. Fully split passive correction provides better impedance matching and less deviation from the ideal RIAA curve. Phono Box DS3 B uses a fully discrete audio circuit. A discrete circuit consists of individual electronic components, also called discrete components. Years of experience have proven that even the best operational amplifiers cannot come close to the neutral, natural, dynamic and vibrant representation of a discrete circuit.

Symmetrical design is the main feature! Connect the player with a 5-pin mini XLR cable or a standard XLR cable and enjoy the benefits of our new True Balanced Connection. A truly balanced amplifier stage can extract the ultimate musical information, effectively filtering out any interference noise that occurs in our modern homes (appliances, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, cables, audio amplifiers).
