Product information
It is not necessary to arrange a battle of "lamps against transistors", because each technology is good in its own way, and this variety determines such an important thing as freedom of choice. Silicon is attractive because it allows you to get high objective characteristics and, above all, an excellent signal/noise ratio at much lower costs. And this is understandable - a semiconductor device does not need a high-voltage power supply unit with expensive capacitors and a large current from a transformer to warm up the filament.
Musical Fidelity M6 VINYL is built on modern operational amplifiers that have a wide bandwidth, low noise and are able to suppress interference coming from the power supply buses. But this does not mean that in M6 VINYL the question is not given enough attention - it is supplied through seven stabilizers installed directly at the consumers, which ensures full decoupling of the cascades. The toroidal transformer is installed on the opposite side of the input section so that it does not introduce a background to sensitive circuits. The voltage from the outlet passes through a network filter, which weakens HF interference by 40 dB, i.e. 100 times.
In Musical Fidelity M6 VINYL, the overload capacity is declared at the level of 31 dB, that is, the input voltage can exceed the nominal value by almost 36 times, and there will be no distortion (clipping). At the same time, the amplitude of the signal at the RCA outputs reaches 10 volts RMS, and at the balanced XLR - 20 volts. Other parameters are also identical: the signal-to-noise ratio is less than -90 dB in the MM mode and -88 dB in the MC mode, the deviation of the frequency response from the recommended RIAA does not exceed +/- 0.25 dB in the range of 20 Hz - 20 kHz. M6 Vinyl is assembled in a case with thick aluminum walls. The color options are black and silver, both with a branded insert made of medical stainless steel, on which the name of the model is engraved.
Musical Fidelity M6 VINYL is a beautifully designed bass, and the difference is clearly audible when switching from RIAA to IEC. In the first case, the harmonics of instruments with a low spectrum (double bass, for example) go deeper, and the delivery itself is perceived more energetically. The tonal balance is classically equal - the proofreader accurately conveys the features of familiar recordings without offering its own interpretation.
