The main advantage of the Moerch system is the interchangeable arm tubes of different effective masses: light (4 g), medium (7.5 g) and heavy (14 g). This allows you to precisely match the mass of the tonearm to the compliance of a particular cartridge - from the most sensitive MM cartridges to low-compliance MC. Owners of multiple cartridges can keep each in its own arm tube and change them by simply swapping them, without having to re-adjust the balance each time.
Unlike most competitors, the azimuth (the angle of the cartridge) in the UP-4 is adjusted not by turning the tube, but by shifting the counterweights - a solution that maintains the geometric accuracy of the needle placement even after fine adjustments.
Chrome plating - standard for the UP-4, emphasizes the technical, precise nature of Danish engineering. The effective length is 230 mm for a 9-inch size.
