The key difference of the DP-8 is the patented anisotropic damping principle: the tonearm is controlled differently in the horizontal and vertical planes of movement, which allows for more accurate reproduction of the bass register without losing the sensitivity of the tracking in the highs. It was this development that earned the model the Golden Ear Award from The Absolute Sound.
Like all Moerch tonearms, the DP-8 is built around a system of interchangeable arm tubes of different effective masses, from light to heavy. This allows you to precisely match the mass of the tonearm to the compliance of the selected cartridge: owners of several cartridges can keep each in their tube and switch between them without re-adjusting the balance each time.
The azimuth is adjusted by shifting the counterweights, which maintains the geometric accuracy of the needle installation even after fine adjustments. Anti-skating is set by a clock spring with the ability to adjust it simply during playback.
The Gold version of the DP-8 is distinguished by a 24-carat gold-plated coating of metal elements - a status solution that does not affect the sound, but emphasizes the flagship status of the model in the line. The standard configuration is designed for a 9-inch effective length (230 mm).
