Description
Definitive Technology D9 bookshelf speakers have become medium-sized in the Demand series. This model is equipped with a 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter, a 5.25-inch mid/bass driver with BDSS surround (like the smaller D7 model) and a passive bass radiator on the top panel, which is the main feature of this model. The built-in passive radiator is designed provide extended response at low frequencies. The large centering washer, as the manufacturer explains, makes the movement more linear and precise, which allows you to achieve deep, collected and clean bass. Like other speakers in the Demand series, the tweeter in the D9 is offset. Combined with the Wave Alignment Lens, the tweeter has improved dispersion and a “smoother response.”
The patented BDSS dual woofer/midrange surround provides greater travel and improved response for midrange detail and punchy bass. The Linear Response Waveguide, according to the company, expands on- and off-axis frequency response while improving audio dispersion.
