Born on November 18, 1951, in the village of Rivnia in Western Ukraine, he became one of the most beloved voices of Ukrainian popular music during the 1970s and 1980s. He graduated from the Lviv Conservatory and quickly rose to prominence in the Ukrainian music scene.
