Foreigner is a British-American rock band formed in New York City in 1976. Known for its blend of classic rock, hard rock, and arena rock, the band became one of the most commercially successful acts of the late 1970s and 1980s.

The group was founded by British guitarist and songwriter Mick Jones. American singer Lou Gramm joined the original lineup and quickly became one of the defining voices of the band's success. Foreigner's self-titled debut album Foreigner (1977) introduced the band to a wide audience with hit singles such as “Feels Like the First Time” and “Cold as Ice.”

The band's popularity grew with albums including Double Vision (1978), Head Games (1979), and especially 4 (1981), which topped the Billboard 200 chart. The album produced several classic hits, including “Urgent,” “Juke Box Hero,” and “Waiting for a Girl Like You.” In 1984, Foreigner released Agent Provocateur, featuring the iconic power ballad “I Want to Know What Love Is,” which became the group's biggest international success.
