The Italian company Chario Acoustics was founded in April 1975 in Milan by engineers Carlo Vicenzetto and Mario Marcello Murace. The brand name is a combination of their names (Charlie + Mario). Chario is one of the oldest European manufacturers of Hi-Fi and Hi-End loudspeakers, having entered the market nearly a decade before most other Italian audio brands.
The company maintains a full production cycle exclusively in Italy (100% Made in Italy) and does not outsource manufacturing to Asia. The brand's craftsmen build all system components in-house: from solid Italian walnut cabinets to proprietary crossovers, voice coils, and paper compound cones.
Chario's main distinction from its competitors is its private research laboratory dedicated to psychoacoustics (the study of how humans perceive sound). This research led to the development of the proprietary NRS technology (down-firing woofer configuration), which utilizes the supporting floor surface to increase bass performance by 3 dB while reducing distortion. The loudspeakers are engineered to deliver an accurate soundstage and rich detail in standard residential rooms without requiring professional acoustic room treatment.
Today, Chario's lineups (particularly the Constellation and Aviator series) cater to audiophiles seeking accurate, uncolored sound and authentic European craftsmanship. The brand's official products are available at the Vinyla store.
