AJR is an American indie pop band from New York City, formed by brothers Adam, Jack, and Ryan Met. Known for blending pop, electropop, indie pop, and alternative influences, the trio has developed a distinctive sound characterized by inventive production and deeply personal songwriting.
AJR began their musical journey in the early 2010s, recording and producing music independently from their apartment in Manhattan. The band gained widespread attention with the viral hit “I'm Ready” in 2013, which showcased their creative use of samples and unconventional production techniques. Their debut album, “Living Room,” was released in 2015, while their breakthrough came with “The Click” (2017), featuring successful singles such as “Weak,” “Sober Up,” and “Burn the House Down.”
The band continued to expand its audience through albums including “Neotheater” (2019), “OK Orchestra” (2021), and “The Maybe Man” (2023). Songs such as “Bang!,” “World's Smallest Violin,” “Way Less Sad,” and “Yes I'm a Mess” became major streaming successes and helped establish AJR as one of the most recognizable independent pop acts of their generation.
What makes AJR unique is their fully independent creative process. The brothers write, produce, and arrange their own music, combining orchestral elements, electronic sounds, and experimental production techniques. Their honest lyrics about growing up, self-discovery, and navigating modern life have resonated with audiences around the world.
