The new generation two-channel receiver Yamaha R-N402 is a universal “combine” that has the latest modern technologies related to wireless data transmission and network streaming. Thanks to support for the DLNA protocol, the model is capable of playing audio content stored on computers or NAS servers on the local network over Wi-Fi or via a LAN connection, incl. High-resolution audio files in DSD formats up to 5.6 MHz (native mode) and PCM up to 24 bit/192 kHz. Similar formats are supported when connecting external drives to the receiver using the USB port located on the front aluminum panel of the case. A Burr-Brown DSD1791 DAC is used for digital-to-analog conversion, and if you have an Internet connection, you can access streaming services such as TIDAL, Napster, Deezer, Qobuz, Sirius XM, vTuner, etc. WAV, FLAC, AIFF and ALAC formats are played back without pauses (gapless).
There is a Bluetooth module on board that can work not only as a receiver, but also as a transmitter, sending audio to smartphones/tablets or Bluetooth headphones/speakers. AirPlay is supported, as well as the Wireless Direct function, which guarantees a direct connection of Wi-Fi devices to the receiver without the use of “intermediaries” (routers, hubs, etc.). This model is also equipped with an AM/FM tuner.
The Yamaha R-N402 stereo receiver is capable of being integrated into a proprietary wireless audio network - the MusicCast multiroom system, which provides the ability to transmit digital audio content “over the air”. Thanks to this system, you can transfer music received from any digital source connected to the Yamaha R-N402 to any MusicCast devices. In this case, you can stream the stream both from smartphones/tablets connected via Bluetooth, and from local network server storage, as well as from CD players, TVs and other sources. The MusicCast CONTROLLER application is available to control the receiver and other components that support this system.
The model complies with the proprietary Natural Sound concept, has a discrete output stage, has a high-quality power supply equipped with a powerful transformer, and provides a maximum power of 140 W per channel into an 8-ohm load.
On the back of the Yamaha R-N402 there is a number of line inputs, a line output, as well as coaxial and optical inputs, to which, for example, you can connect a Blu-ray or CD player, TV and other sources. There is also a LAN port for integration into a local network and eight screw terminals for speakers. In addition to the application, you can use the standard remote control to control the receiver.
