Description

The first art book by artist and illustrator Sergiy Maidukov, *KYIV by Sergiy Maidukov*, is a visual story about Kyiv, featuring more than 50 color illustrations and black-and-white sketches created by the author between 2018 and 2021.

Sergiy Maidukov is the protagonist who experiences the city’s hustle and bustle, the whimsical beauty of everyday life, and the colors and moods of the streets. KYIV by Sergiy Maidukov is a book by an artist for whom Kyiv was not his hometown at first, but gradually became one. And although the art book’s title suggests that it will focus on locations, buildings, and interiors, it is not a guidebook but rather a disassembled mosaic that the reader will reassemble for themselves. Among the illustrations, you’ll recognize: the “Flying Saucer” and the “Salyut” Hotel, grain elevators and the port area near the Dnipro River, the Podil Theater and the Motherland Monument, interiors of the House of Cinema and the Rye Market, Shulyavka, and Dorogozhychi. The publication includes a foreword by journalist Oleksii Tarasov, as well as his conversation with Serhii. All texts in the art book are written in two languages: Ukrainian and English.
