Description
The Rotel Michi P5 S2 is a high-end stereo preamplifier designed with one clear goal: to provide the most accurate, neutral, and transparent sound possible without any compromises.
Product information
This is the second generation of the flagship model, in which Rotel has made more than 125 improvements related to circuitry, power, DACs and overall signal architecture.
Inside the P5 S2 are two reference ESS SABRE ES9028PRO digital-to-analog converters in a dual-mono configuration - one for each channel. Thanks to this, the sound receives not only impressive resolution, but also an organic smoothness that is inherent only in top-end audio systems. The sound is open, accurate, with natural timbre transmission and excellent dynamics - regardless of whether you are listening to digital sources, vinyl or streaming audio.
The P5 S2 is equipped with two custom-wound toroidal transformers, each of which feeds independent lines - this allows you to minimize interference, isolate channels and ensure absolute background silence. The preamplifier supports a huge number of inputs: balanced XLR, unbalanced RCA, coaxial and optical digital inputs, USB with support for PCM 32-bit/384kHz, DSD up to DSD256 and even MQA. There is also an input for vinyl players - both MM and MC. Additionally, Bluetooth with aptX HD and AAC codecs is provided.
This device does not try to be an "all-in-one". It does not have streaming, HDMI or DSP - and this is a principled position. Its goal is not to "entertain", but to provide reference sound quality for those who know what they want from music. And it copes with this brilliantly.
As befits the Michi series, the preamplifier has an impeccable appearance: a restrained, massive case with a black gloss finish, a large display, a minimum of controls - only the most necessary. The P5 S2 pairs perfectly with Rotel Michi X or M-series power amplifiers, but also integrates easily into any high-end audio system.
