Description

The debate between direct and belt drive in HiFi circles has been raging for years. But the Turn 5 doesn't debate — it just plays. The quartz-controlled brushless DC motor with direct drive, 16-pole and 3-phase, provides rotational stability at 0.01% WRMS and a starting torque of 4500 g/cm — indicators that are rare in the HiFi segment. The massive 12.8-kg metal body with a "black piano" varnish, a gold-plated disc and an Ortofon 2M Red included — all this makes the Turn 5 a clear answer to the question "what to take more seriously than a belt turntable, but not overpay for the flagship."

The heart of the Turn 5 is a 16-pole 3-phase brushless DC motor with quartz control and direct drive. Starting torque is 4500 g/cm, acceleration time to operating speed is less than 0.2 seconds. The brake is electronic. Three speeds are supported: 33 1/3, 45 and 78 rpm - selection is made by a large button on the top panel next to the start/stop.

The cast aluminum disc with a diameter of 332 mm and a mass of about 1.8 kg (including the mat) is made by precision milling injection molding. The back surface is covered with a damping rubber coating to dampen unwanted resonances, and the top surface is covered with a special 5-millimeter rubber mat for additional isolation from bearing vibrations. Externally, the disc is completely anodized in gold: together with the black piano body, this creates an expressive and at the same time restrained image, where the eye stops precisely on the record.

The statically balanced S-shaped tonearm with hydraulic lift and anti-skating adjustment is equipped with a height adjustment function in the range of 0–6 mm with fixation - precise adjustment of the needle attack angle for a specific cartridge without guesswork. Connection - according to the SME standard.

The kit includes an Ortofon 2M Red, already installed on the headshell. The player is ready to play immediately after installing the balancer.

The Turn 5 chassis is built on a massive metal base with a combination of materials that provides rigidity and effective damping of resonances. Shock-absorbing legs isolate the body from the floor. Weight - 12.8 kg: for a HiFi player, this is a serious indicator that directly affects stability in operation. Coating - "black piano" varnish.

The rear panel of connections is recessed into the housing to protect the connectors and conveniently place it next to other equipment. Gold-plated RCA outputs (Phono) with a ground terminal guarantee minimal signal loss. Power and RCA cables are negative. There is no built-in phono equalizer - the player is designed to be connected to an amplifier with a phono input or a separate phono equalizer.
