Sometimes the biggest changes start with the smallest details. The Rega Carbon Pro Stylus is the official upgrade stylus for the standard Carbon cartridge, transforming the familiar sound of your turntable into something significantly more precise and expressive. One step and vinyl opens up in a new way.
The standard Carbon cartridge stylus has a conical profile — reliable, but a compromise. The Carbon Pro Stylus replaces it with a bonded elliptical diamond measuring 0.3 × 0.7 mm. The ellipse more accurately repeats the geometry of the groove, touching it at two points at once — where high-frequency details and spatial micronuances are cut out. The result is felt immediately: vocals acquire texture, instruments diverge in space, and bass lines become clearer and more weighty. Dynamic differences that the conical profile smoothed out are now transmitted with natural liveliness.
The elliptical profile not only sounds more accurate — it is gentler on the vinyl itself. Due to the larger contact area with the groove walls, pressure is distributed more evenly, which reduces wear on the record compared to a conical stylus. The recommended contact force is 2.5 g (allowable range 2–3 g).
The Carbon Pro Stylus is installed without tools and without removing the cartridge from the tonearm. Simply pull the old stylus down towards you, insert the new one at a slight angle so that the hook enters the groove of the cartridge, and press up until it clicks. Compatible with all Rega Planar 1, Planar 1 Plus and Planar 2 turntables equipped with the standard Carbon cartridge, as well as any other turntables that use this cartridge.
The Carbon Pro Stylus is a rare case where a serious improvement in sound comes without serious expense. No cartridge replacement, no re-sizing of the pressure weight, no additional adjustments. Just a new stylus and your player is fully revealed.
