Models in this series are excellent for building cinema systems (including those with Dolby Atmos support) and cope excellently with musical material in stereo. The flagship is structurally and externally close to its predecessor S60, but has an improved crossover circuit and a slightly modified midwoofer design, equipped with softer black dust caps. The front panel of the case is 19 mm thick and has a matte finish instead of the glossy finish of the previous model.
Polk Audio S60e drivers feature Dynamic Balance technology, which ensures the most effective combination of their design elements and materials, which helps eliminate mechanical deformation and minimize unwanted cone resonances. The tweeter, placed in a shallow waveguide, has a ceramic magnet and a dome made of terylene, a lightweight and very durable polymer. The developers managed to slightly lower the lower limit of the high-frequency band and ultimately ensure a seamless connection with the mid frequencies, which resulted in a cleaner, more detailed and natural sound. In this case, the upper HF limit reaches 40 kHz, i.e. The flagship is able to correctly voice any high-resolution audio formats.
Midrange and bass are handled by a trio of 6.5-inch drivers, which are equipped with polypropylene membranes with mineral mica filler, butyl rubber surrounds, four-layer coils and powerful magnetic ceramic systems. The driver centering washers are made of Conex material, which is known for its resistance to high temperatures. The result is a clear, linear and articulate sound. A specially designed Power Port (with a cone) is integrated into the bottom of the speaker, eliminating turbulence and improving bass response by 3 dB compared to traditional solutions.
The flagship Polk Audio S60e is equipped with an optimized Cascading Tapered Crossover, which guarantees precise phase coherence of the drivers and a wide directivity pattern. There are two pairs of screw terminals.
The acoustically inert speaker housing is made of MDF and equipped with damping struts. At the same time, the manufacturer notes the absence of internal standing waves and any overtones. The floor stand attracts attention with its pleasant design with smooth edges, neat stand legs and a grill, which is connected using magnets and has excellent anti-diffraction properties.
