The two-way model Polk Audio S50e is a junior floor-standing speaker system in the Signature E line, designed specifically for the European market. The model differs from its American counterpart S50 in improved crossover circuits, thanks to which it was possible to somewhat change the overall character of the sound. The branded 5.25-inch drivers also received some design changes, in particular, soft dust caps are now used instead of central plugs. The speakers are manufactured using Dynamic Balance technology, which eliminates parasitic resonances of their cones through the most effective combination of materials, design elements and geometric shape.
The speaker's one-inch tweeter has a lightweight, durable terylene dome membrane and a powerful ceramic magnet. The lower limit of its frequency range was lowered. This ensures smooth decoupling from the midrange, resulting in clear, detailed and cohesive sound. The upper limit of the HF range reaches 40 kHz. That's why the Polk Audio S50e is Hi-Res Audio certified.
The Polk Audio S50e has two midrange/bass drivers with ceramic magnetic systems, butyl rubber surrounds and diffusers made from mica-reinforced polypropylene. The speakers received centering washers (“spiders”) made of Conex material that can withstand high temperatures. This design ensures a clear, linear and dynamic sound, and helps enhance bass response with a Power Port built into the bottom of the cabinet, equipped with a conical splitter and minimizing the noise created by the outgoing air flow.
The advanced Cascading Tapered Crossover is used to precisely match the sound of the speakers, which also allows for a seamless sound image anywhere in the listening room. The speaker has two pairs of terminals with gold-plated contacts, which is convenient for organizing a two-wire connection.
Constructed from MDF, the Polk Audio S50e features superior damping thanks to internal bracing, a thick matte front panel and custom-built kickstands. To protect the emitters, there is a grill equipped with a magnetic mount. The model is versatile, as it can work both as part of a home theater with support for modern surround sound formats (Dolby Atmos, etc.), and in a regular Hi-Fi stereo system.
