C 298 Stereo Power Amplifier
Description
The NAD C 298 stereo power amplifier is based on the Purifi Eigentakt class D amplifier module. The C 298 design incorporates feedback to achieve a linear and accurate transfer function.
The C 298 can be a basic power amplifier, but we have carefully considered all the commonly encountered use cases to create a wide range of functionality. With a choice of balanced inputs, the C 298 is a versatile amplifier for studio use or connecting to high quality preamps and other components.

Getting the basics right
It's surprising how many seemingly advanced products on the market today often fail to meet the most basic requirements needed to deliver high-quality sound. Low-noise circuits, accurate channel balance, correct input and output impedance characteristics, high overload margin, and stability under heavy speaker loads. NAD starts by achieving these goals and goes from there. Our line inputs, both balanced and unbalanced, can connect to all kinds of analog components, offering ideal input impedance characteristics with ultra-low noise linear buffer amplifiers to prevent any sound degradation caused by inappropriate source device loading. That's all the detail you can hear.
Sophisticated power
NAD has eliminated outdated and highly power-hungry linear power supplies and Class AB output stages that waste nearly half of their power consumption on heat rather than sound. Instead, we have developed even more efficient circuits based on switching power supplies and Class D output stages. Traditional topologies were once thought to be inferior in terms of performance, but NAD's advanced developments in this area have resulted in some of the best amplifiers available, regardless of the underlying design principle. These new designs are very linear over a wide frequency range and provide stable performance with any speaker load, a significant step forward from previous models.
The powerful power supply easily delivers 185 W of continuous power and over 570 W of instantaneous power for short-term musical transients. The innovative asymmetrical power supply fully utilizes every available watt with a huge dynamic power reserve to accurately reproduce musical transients without distortion or compression. It can operate with any AC mains voltage from 100 to 240 V and provides clean DC power to all C 298 stages. This high-performance power supply also provides near-perfect voltage regulation over a wide range of conditions and provides a reliable, quiet base for the amplification stages.
