Monitor 200 White

The compact 2.5-way model Monitor Audio Silver 200 is the youngest of three floorstanding speakers in the Silver 6G series, which belongs to the sixth generation of the iconic “silver” line. The speaker looks great, has modest dimensions and has serious audiophile characteristics.

Designed in collaboration with the UK's National Physical Laboratory, the enclosure is made from 20mm MDF and reinforced with internal baffles/struts, the location of which has been precisely determined using laser scanning. The result is maximum inertia and accurate sound without body coloration. To the rear of the model are two HiVe II ports of different diameters with notches to increase air flow speed and eliminate turbulence, thereby improving transient characteristics and making bass deep and dense.

The updated tweeter features a thin dome made from gold anodized C-CAM (ceramic-coated aluminum-magnesium alloy) material and an optimized neodymium magnet system. The tweeter guarantees low distortion, cleaner highs and raises the frequency range to 35 kHz, which is important for playing Hi-Res formats.

To transmit midrange and bass frequencies, the Monitor Audio Silver 200 uses two 5.25" drivers with a molded polymer chassis and rigid C-CAM diffusers with recesses applied to their surface (RST technology) to eliminate bending deformation. The speakers are located in separate compartments and have different settings. Therefore, only the mid/bass driver interacts with the tweeter band, providing the correct sound image even outside the radiation axis. According to the manufacturer, such a speaker is capable of competing with three-way speakers.

The emitters use DCF technology, borrowed from the Platinum II series. At the point where the voice coil is attached to the diaphragm, a ring is installed, which acts as a damper when the crossover frequency is reached and removes distortion in the upper operating band of the driver. All speakers are secured using tension bolts connected to the rear of the cabinet, which improves damping and ensures decoupling from the front panel. Low-profile grills with magnetic mounts are used for protection.

The crossover uses custom polypropylene film capacitors, coreless coils, and coils with a laminated steel core. Due to the presence of four input terminals, two-wire connection is available. The Monitor Audio Silver 200 speaker rests on the surface with the help of “legs” protruding beyond the body, to which rubber feet and spikes are attached.
