Description

Over five decades of hands-on experience in creating the world's finest vinyl records—and an understanding of the intricacies of reference analog sound—are packed into the compact MoFi StudioPhono. Designed to bring the legendary Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab sound directly to your system, the studio was designed with Tim De Paravicini, the engineer responsible for the entire analog recording system at Mobile Fidelity's flagship studio in Sebastopol, California.

StudioPhono is based on a conscious commitment to simplicity, purity and precision in its circuitry, developed based on ideas first applied in Mobile Fidelity’s own Gain 2 Ultra Analog mastering circuit. It is this philosophy that gives the audiophile clarity, impeccable accuracy and impressive realism of reproduction that make StudioPhono a choice that goes far beyond its price segment.

StudioPhono offers selectable gain and loading, allowing you to fine-tune the equalizer to almost any MM or MC cartridge on the market. Gain values cover the range of 40, 46, 60 and 66 dB with the ability to add another 6 dB via DIP switches, and the loading is adjustable from 75 ohms. All switches are conveniently located on the bottom of the device - no tools are required for adjustment.

On the top panel are two buttons for instant switching to Mono mode, ideal for classic mono recordings and their reissues, and a Subsonic filter, which cuts off unwanted ultra-low frequencies that can cause excessive movement of the speaker diaphragm due to warped records or tonearm resonances. The result is a cleaner, more accurate reproduction of the bass range without foreign signal contamination.

StudioPhono's flat, elongated body measuring only 10 × 17 × 3.2 cm will easily find a place in any system, without requiring a separate shelf. At the same time, the build quality, according to users, exceeds expectations for devices in this price range.

StudioPhono is a natural choice for owners of MoFi StudioDeck or UltraDeck turntables who want to connect a vinyl system to an amplifier without a built-in phono equalizer. But thanks to the flexible gain and load settings, the equalizer works equally well with turntables from any other manufacturer — from Rega to Pro-Ject — and equally confidently reveals the potential of both MM and MC cartridges.
