The Marantz SR8015 is a new 11.2-channel flagship that can decode all modern AV formats, has impressive functionality and offers high quality sound. The model is based on technical solutions used in reference two-channel amplifiers. The central part of the copper-plated chassis is occupied by a massive shielded toroidal transformer. Selected high-quality components also help maintain sound quality at the proper level.
Each channel has a discrete HDAM amplifier module with current feedback, and the power supply uses high-capacity capacitors. As a result, the receiver produces 205 watts per channel at 6 ohms. The Marantz SR8015 can decode the main object-based 3D audio formats: Dolby Atmos (in 7.1.4-channel version without an additional amplifier), DTS:X and Auro-3D. With the release of the new firmware, support for DTS Virtual:X is announced, which is capable of creating three-dimensional sound even in a 2-channel configuration. DTS:X Pro support was promised by the end of 2020. The receiver uses four DSP SHARC and can upscale any video to 4K resolution.
For auto-calibration of speakers, the Audyssey MultEQ XT32 system is used, which is complemented by a whole package of Audyssey technologies: Dynamic Volume, Dynamic EQ, LFC (prevents low frequencies from penetrating into adjacent rooms) and Sub EQ HT (corrects the operation of two subwoofers). There is one 32-bit AKM DAC per channel of the Marantz SR8015. There is Wi-Fi (dual bands), Bluetooth and AirPlay. Via a local network and via the USB port located on the facade, playback of Hi-Res formats is available, incl. DSD (2.8/5.6 MHz).
The Marantz SR8015 can be integrated into the flexible HEOS multi-room system, which opens up great possibilities in terms of wireless data transfer. A special HEOS application can control the receiver and transmit audio content from the local network and other sources to components capable of working with this technology, as well as launch services such as TuneIn, Spotify Connect, Tidal, Deezer, etc. The Alexa voice assistant is available, which is very convenient when managing.
The Marantz SR8015 model received eight HDMI inputs (one on the facade), which support 8K/60 Hz, 4K/120 Hz resolution, HDCP 2.3 protocol, BT.2020, pass HDR video, HLG (HDR version for TV broadcasts) and Dolby Vision . There are three HDMI outputs, one of which works with eARC (enhanced return channel), allowing you to stream Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and other 3D audio formats. You can also select a group of digital inputs, an MM phono stage input, a 7.1-channel input and an 11.2-channel Pre Out. There are twelve pairs of screw terminals for connecting speakers.
