Description
The Luxman LMC-5 is a return to the roots. The brand’s first proprietary MC cartridge in decades — and it’s immediately clear: Luxman doesn’t just make “new stuff for the catalog.” They make an instrument for music.
This is an MC cartridge with a character - noble, deep, very adult. Without spectacular showiness. Without artificial analytics. It's all about naturalness.
The LMC-5 gives a very holistic picture.
The stage is wide, but not artificially stretched. It has depth and the right perspective. The instruments stand stably, with air around, but without excessive "backlighting".
The bass is elastic and textural. Not just low, but mass and density. The double bass sounds like wood and string, not like an abstract frequency.
The midrange is what you can love it for. The vocals are lively, bodily, very natural. There is a sense of presence, but without aggression. It is exactly the delivery that makes you listen to the album in its entirety.
The top is detailed, but soft. No sharpness. The SHIBATA needle profile works very neatly: a lot of micro-details, but without a digital character.
