KEF engineers do not compromise. The sleek exterior of the R5 speaker system combines the same Uni-Q driver as the older models, with a 125mm diameter midrange driver and a 25mm diameter aluminum dome tweeter, allowing for the same level of reproduction in the upper and midrange. The woofers, which are slightly smaller (130mm), also reproduce an exceptionally clear bass level both in a small room and in a complex with the rest of the speakers, the surround sound that is part of a home theater.

The new KEF R series has been completely designed from the ground up. A decade of experience and our great love for music have come together in the new R Series. Combining the innovations of the Reference Series with our new unique technologies, the R Series sounds more detailed, deeper and more beautiful. Each element in the new KEF R series has been crafted with extraordinary precision to reproduce the live experience of listening to music with all the nuances of the musicians' performance.

The R series consists of three types of floor speakers, one shelf for small rooms and models for building a home theater. Each model in the series delivers the best sound from KEF in its category, regardless of system configuration or room size.

Our desire to achieve the ideal is why KEF's new R series combines five major technological advances, taken mainly from the benchmark - the Reference series.

By placing the tweeter in the acoustic center of the mid-frequency dome radiator, you create a monolithic sound source that allows you to evenly fill the space with impeccable natural sound. The new R series features the twelfth generation Uni-Q speaker, which was created with the active use of KEF computer modeling and analysis tools. KEF engineers were able to colossally reduce the coloration of the sound by significantly reducing the resonance of individual parts of the Uni-Q speaker. As a result, the sound is clearer, more accurate and the perception of the stereo picture is much more real.

Bass is the basis of music, everything is built on it, and the most accurate reproduction is the most important foundation for flawless sound. The R Series woofers are constructed using a double-layer material, a thin aluminum plate attached over a paper diffuser. The resulting solid cone material in combination with the unique shape of the diffuser is able to create a piston movement of maximum precision for the reproduction of fast and articulated bass. To control the movement of the diffuser, KEF completely redesigned the magnetic system to create a more uniform magnetic field.
