Description

There are speakers that simply play sound. And there is the KEF LS LUXE, a sculpture that can play music. This is KEF’s most ambitious project in recent years: the result of a collaboration with legendary British designer Ross Lovegrove, the creator of the iconic Muon and Mu, and at the same time a technological breakthrough in compact active Hi-Fi. If the LS50 Wireless II has long been the gold standard for wireless bookshelf speakers, then the LS LUXE is the next step for those who want not just good sound, but sound as an art form.

Forget the usual rectangular case. The LS LUXE has a smooth, streamlined shape, made of a durable bulk-molded compound - a material that allows you to reduce internal space and free up more usable volume inside the case. These are compact bookshelf speakers that look equally good on a shelf or on a special branded S-Luxe stand (sold separately). At the back is a sleek aluminum heat sink for cooling the electronics and a new generation of Flexible Port Technology phase inverter, the shape of the walls of which is designed to minimize airflow turbulence and unnecessary port noise.

Inside is an all-new 6.5-inch twelfth-generation Uni-Q coaxial driver, larger than the version in the LS50 Wireless II and designed specifically for the LS LUXE. The tweeter is positioned precisely at the acoustic centre of the mid-woofer, a classic KEF technique that ensures even sound dispersion throughout the room and a wider listening area. The driver is complemented by MAT metamaterial absorption technology, which absorbs up to 99% of unwanted rear radiation from the tweeter, virtually eliminating distortion. And the Uni-Q assembly itself is mechanically decoupled from the flexible chassis - so that cabinet vibrations do not penetrate the sound.

The main technological premiere of the LS LUXE is the patented Velocity Control Technology (VECO), which first appeared in the KEF Xio soundbar and now makes its debut in speakers. This is a closed-loop system: a velocity sensor tracks the movement of the Uni-Q diaphragm in real time, and the data is instantly transmitted to a custom amplifier, which corrects any movement deviations. The result is controlled, precise bass even at high volumes, without the "smearing" and compression characteristic of smaller active systems under load.

Each speaker is fully active, with a current-drive amplifier with a total power of 380 W (100 W Class AB + 280 W Class D) and a maximum sound pressure level of 110 dB. All this is managed by the company's Music Integrity Engine (MIE) - a set of DSP algorithms that keep detail and tonal balance stable even during long listening sessions and low volumes.

LS LUXE is built on the W2 Wireless Platform with support for lossless audio up to 24-bit/384 kHz. There is Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, HDMI eARC for TV sound, optical and coaxial digital inputs, analog 3.5 mm AUX and Ethernet for a stable network connection. Multiroom is implemented via Apple AirPlay 2, Google Cast, and Roon Ready support is announced for 2027 via a free firmware update. There are also subwoofer outputs - the system is easy to expand with bass if necessary. Control - via the proprietary KEF Connect application with Normal and Expert room equalization modes, as well as via a physical remote control and USB-C on the main speaker, which also serves as a charger for the remote control.

LS LUXE is not just a successor to the LS50 Wireless II, but a separate premium class: for those who want to assemble a system without amplifier boxes and kilometers of cables, but are not ready to give up sound for the sake of compactness. Ideal for a living room, office or home theater, where the acoustics should be as beautiful as the surrounding furniture.
