With an impressive 2000mW output power, the ZEN CAN 3 offers a significant improvement in the quality of music listening through headphones with unprecedented clarity and headroom. The ZEN CAN 3's ability to easily handle dynamic peaks means you can hear music as it was intended. Whether it's magnetic planar headphones that require more power for precise control, or high-impedance models that need sufficient current, the ZEN CAN 3 is up to the task.

The iFi ZEN CAN 3 features a discrete balanced Class A circuit taken from our flagship headphone amplifier. The circuit is based on carefully selected premium components from Panasonic, TDK, MELF, Texas Instruments and muRata. The amplification stage uses iFi/AMR's own OV series (Operationsverstärker) operational amplifiers, which outperform commercial chips.

Outputs include a regular 6.35 mm and a balanced 4.4 mm on the front panel for connecting headphones. Inputs are only analog: Pentaconn plus unbalanced RCA and also a jack, only 3.5 mm - on the rear.

The gain switch has 4 positions, 5 sound modes, one of which is designed for IEM headphones with innovative xMEMS drivers, which, according to the developers, respond 150 times faster than classic dynamic radiators with a voice coil and magnets.

In the third version, iFi engineers increased the power of the ZEN Can 3 to 2,000 mW on a balanced output with headphones with an impedance of 64 Ohms connected to it. That is, the "professional" hundreds of Ohms of the device are obviously also up to the task.

All functions of the ZEN CAN 3 are implemented using an analog circuit. Unlike devices that use digital signal processing (DSP), the ZEN CAN 3 takes advantage of the natural advantages of analog circuitry: it preserves sound integrity, introduces less phase shift and distortion, and boasts more natural frequency control.
