Traditional anti-static guns have a fundamental limitation: they emit ions of only one sign at a time—either positive or negative. To completely neutralize the charge, you need two passes from different sides, and maintaining the same distance from the surface evenly by hand is practically impossible. Orbit rethinks this process. The device is mounted on a spindle directly above the record and automatically makes 10 full revolutions around its surface. Two plasma generators in conjunction with a high-speed fan simultaneously emit positive and negative ions—more than 50 million particles of each sign per cubic centimeter—from a constant height of 23 mm above the surface. The even distance and equal ratio of ions guarantee charge neutralization without residue. After ten revolutions, the device stops automatically.
Turning on Orbit is literally a matter of pressing a button. No adjustments, no manual movements over the record. Place the device on the player spindle with the record on the deck, press “start” and the cleaning cycle will happen by itself. The built-in battery is charged via USB-C; one charge is enough for at least 100 cycles. The charge indicator on the case always shows the current battery status. The kit includes two anti-static spindle adapters, each 6 mm thick, which allows you to use Orbit on players with a spindle height of up to 23 mm. The minimum free diameter of the deck for the device to work is 326 mm.
The case is made of ABS plastic; the device weighs 625 g, dimensions are 270 × 92 × 105 mm. Compactness and wirelessness make Orbit convenient not only at home, but also in any place where there is a player.
Orbit fits naturally into the listening ritual: clean the record, remove static, lower the needle. In that order. The device is positioned as the final step before playback — after mechanical or ultrasonic cleaning — and it is here that it fully reveals itself: it removes residual static that has already arisen after washing, and prevents dust from sticking to the surface of the tracks again.
