This multi-faceted line-contact profile was chosen because it has a very low diamond mass and a large contact area, thus providing undistorted reproduction of high frequencies in the recording. To properly process this information, the Ethos cartridge is based on the GOL-1 generator with a Goldring moving coil. Featuring a hand-wound mild iron cruciform armature and mated to a low-resonance aircraft-grade aluminum chassis, each is fine-tuned by skilled craftsmen to achieve the best level of performance. The result is that a person is literally immersed in a piece of music.
