Description
Speaker systems in spherical housings are not something exotic for the Hi-Fi market - the first models of this shape were created in the mid-70s of the last century. Indeed, in many "sound" parameters, the sphere-shaped body is potentially superior to the standard "box", but today only a few companies risk undertaking the production of such unusual-looking speakers. One of the companies seriously engaged in the development of spherical acoustics is the French Elipson.
Elipson Planet M speakers have a closed case and can be installed on a table stand or a special floor stand. Acoustic systems have a two-way configuration, equipped with branded speakers - a low-frequency one with a paper diffuser with a diameter of 100 mm, and a tweeter with a 20-mm silk dome. Both emitters are located coaxially, forming a point source of sound with a uniform directional pattern in the entire frequency range. Taking into account the shape of the case, such acoustics can literally dissolve in the sound stage, practically not revealing itself as a sound source. Internal wiring in the speakers is made with high-quality acoustic cable, and a single pair of screw terminals is used to connect the amplifier.
The external decoration of Elipson Planet M speakers can be done with black, white or red varnish (multi-layer application with intermediate drying). There can be many options for placing these speakers, and in this regard, Planet M is much more "flexible" than any traditional speakers. These speakers can, for example, be fixed on the ceiling - with the help of a special rod, or simply half "drowned" in suspended ceiling panels. Also, with the help of a special Planet M bracket, you can mount it on the wall.
Elipson Planet M can work in two or multi-channel audio systems (the Elipson company also produces a special subwoofer that is stylistically suitable for these speakers), and provide high-quality sound for medium-sized rooms. These speaker systems have fairly high sensitivity and stable impedance, and will pair well with electronics from popular brands.
