Description
The Miracord 80 is the top of the ELAC turntable line, continuing the legacy of the legendary anniversary Miracord 90 and incorporating all the best the brand has learned over the years of working to revive the name. This is not just another "lifestyle" turntable for the shelf - this is a serious high-mass instrument for those who want to hear vinyl in all its depth and detail.
The heart of the Miracord 80 is a 5.6 kg metal disc that rotates on a hardened steel axle held by two sintered bronze bushings. This design ensures exceptional rotational stability and minimal noise from the bearing. A felt mat is included, which additionally isolates the record from disc vibrations.
The disc is driven by a low-speed DC motor through a thick rubber belt, and the accuracy of rotation is controlled by a PID algorithm in combination with an optical speed sensor - the same technology that has proven its effectiveness in the younger models of the line, here brought to maximum accuracy (±0.33%). The motor itself is mechanically decoupled twice - both from the body and from the tonearm - so that no vibration from the motor enters the sound reproduction path.
Unlike the younger models of the line with MDF plinth, Miracord 80 received a plinth milled from solid wood - a solution that, together with anodized aluminum panels, adds weight, rigidity and stability to the design. The body is additionally decoupled from the surface by adjustable silicone feet that dampen external vibrations before they reach the record and tonearm.
The 10-inch tonearm specially designed for this model is made of ultra-light carbon tube, and the remaining elements are made of aluminum and brass. The tonearm head is individually milled on a CNC machine, which guarantees maximum geometric accuracy and minimal tracking angle error along the entire groove of the record. The removable head and a wide range of adjustments make the tonearm compatible with the vast majority of cartridges on the market.
The Miracord 80 does not have a built-in phono stage — and this is a conscious engineering position: such a flagship model is designed for its own, carefully selected external phono stage, which will reveal the full potential of the selected cartridge. If desired, the player can be ordered with a proprietary D96 MM cartridge, developed for ELAC by Clearaudio — a solution that is perfectly matched to the tonearm geometry and eliminates the hassle of independently selecting a needle.
The Miracord 80 is available in three finishes — glossy white, glossy black and walnut veneer — each of which emphasizes the status of the flagship model in the ELAC line.
