Description
Integrated amplifier with built-in DAC and MM/MC phono stage, power output of 2 x 70 watts (8 ohms), Class AB, frequency range of 10 Hz - 70 kHz, inputs: MM/MC phono cartridge, 3 line-level, USB-B (up to 32-bit/384 kHz and DSD up to 11.2 MHz), 2 optical, coaxial, dimensions 434 x 135 x 410 mm, weight 17.6 kg.
The Denon PMA-1600NE integrated amplifier is a significantly improved version of its predecessor, with enhanced functionality. The device features a recognizable design with a curved aluminum front panel. In the center, there is a large volume control knob, and to the left of it are bass and treble controls, as well as a stereo balance control.
However, the internal components of the amplifier have undergone significant changes. It has a six-block configuration with complete separation of different functional circuits to eliminate interference between them. The chassis is made of 1mm thick steel plates, and the PMA-1600NE incorporates two separate power transformers in its power supply unit. The output amplifiers are built with discrete components using high-current output MOS transistors, which are mounted on separate heat sinks for the left and right stereo channels. The PMA-1600NE is equipped with three line-level inputs and one output, which can be used to connect a recording device. Additionally, the device features a high-class phono stage for MM/MC cartridges and a digital-to-analog converter that supports the latest HD formats. The converter includes USB (for PC) and two optical and coaxial inputs, with the USB input capable of receiving PCM signals (up to 32-bit/384 kHz and DSD up to 11.2 MHz). The DAC is designed using the DAC Master Clock Design technology to reduce jitter, and a special isolating circuit is provided for the USB input to protect against noise generated by connected PCs. The fluorescent indicator on the amplifier's front panel displays the selected input and the parameters of the input digital signal. The PMA-1600NE also includes an infrared input and output on the rear panel for controlling external devices. Speaker connection is achieved through custom-made screw terminals, spaced apart for convenient connection over a significant distance.
The amplifier provides direct signal transmission bypassing additional circuits and can be switched to analog mode to disable all digital circuits. The PMA-1600NE delivers a power output of up to 140 watts per channel into a 4-ohm load and can serve as the foundation for a high-class Hi-Fi system with various signal sources.
