DacMagic 200M
Description
The architecture and functionality of the DacMagic 200M have been significantly updated: Cambridge Audio claims that the digital section circuitry in this model has been developed "from scratch." The new model features a dual-mono architecture and is equipped with a duplicated ESS Sabre ES9028Q2M chipset. This allows the flagship Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M to process PCM signals up to 32-bit/768 kHz and DSD512. Additionally, the DAC has become the first Cambridge Audio device capable of decoding MQA. MQA is an award-winning British technology that not only captures all the details of a recording but also simplifies streaming over the internet. For example, the music streaming service TIDAL uses MQA technology for high-quality audio streaming. The DAC offers three digital filters, each creating its own unique sound signature.

The balanced and unbalanced analog outputs of the Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M are complemented by a Class AB headphone amplifier with a 6.3mm output jack. In addition to traditional A/B amplification, the output impedance of the 6.3mm headphone socket has been reduced. This provides greater power, reduced distortion, lower noise, and more precise sound control when listening through headphones. With its versatile connectivity options, the DacMagic 200M can be integrated into any home audio system. Multiple digital inputs (two coaxial, two optical, one USB Type-B) allow for connection to various digital sources, including laptops, CD players, gaming consoles, and Blu-ray players.
The built-in support for Bluetooth aptX means that you can also wirelessly stream digital files from your smartphone or tablet. The device features a half-width metal chassis with an aluminum panel. Measuring just 52 x 215 x 191mm and available in a sleek minimalist Lunar Grey color, the DacMagic 200M seamlessly blends into any space. Its compact size allows for placement in an audio system, on your home office desk, or on a TV stand.
The Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M DAC is equipped with three filtering options: "Linear Phase," "Minimum Phase," and "Steep." The manufacturer recommends experimenting with the filters and selecting the one that provides optimal playback quality for each signal source or audio material. The DAC remembers and uses the filter type separately for each input, allowing you to assign a steep filter for the USB input, a linear phase filter for digital input 1, and so on. The Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M is truly a versatile device that allows you to elevate the sound quality of your music files to true Hi-Fi levels.
