A mobile phone (Android or iOS) can serve as a full-fledged signal source for the "Red Granny." To successfully connect, an OTG cable that fits the phone's port is required.
Headphones are directly connected to the 3.5mm audio jack. The DragonFly DAC Red, which outputs a clean 2.1V, can "drive" virtually any headphones.
The high-performance 32-bit ESS 9016 chip from ESS Technology is responsible for converting digital to analog sound, while the low-noise USB asynchronous transmission is handled by the PIC32MX270 chip. The volume level is controlled by a 64-bit digital controller embedded in the DAC chip.
In short, the sound quality of the DragonFly DAC Red can be described as 100% Hi-Fi.
