Rethinking ideas about portable controllers
KeyStep is a new type of portable musical instrument that combines the functions of a MIDI keyboard with a polyphonic step sequencer that allows you to control both analog and digital instruments.

Do you need a portable USB MIDI controller and MIDI keyboard that embodies all the experience and achievements in this field? Got some MIDI modules you'd like to connect but don't want to deal with bulky MIDI keyboards? Would you like to control modular and analog equipment with CV/GATE? Do you need a step sequencer with polyphonic settings that allows you to synchronize your favorite modern and vintage equipment? Can one device cope with all these tasks...

These feelings...

The KeyStep controller is capable of this and even much more.

Arturia's developers started with their own design of the keyboard with "thin keys", the principle of operation of which is based on combining the best qualities of compact mini keys with the reproduction features of a full-sized keyboard. The size, dynamic sensitivity and after-touch function embodied in the new design ensure excellent portability without causing discomfort when playing.

A new polyphonic step sequencer was also developed with 8 programmed memory slots, information from which can be retrieved by turning the knob. The user can choose the time of the gate and set the frequency of oscillations to change the nature of the sequences during the game. There is also the ability to record, overlay and transpose your sequences in real-time while playing the keyboard.

Added flexible and versatile arpeggiator and chord modes for hours of musical adventure.

...and opportunities

These features alone make KeyStep the best portable keyboard controller on the market. However, Arturia's engineers have gone further by providing the instrument with a multitude of communication options: USB-MIDI (obviously), standard MIDI input and output, DIN sync (yes!) and CV/GATE outputs, and a separate dedicated CV- output that can be used with modulation wheel, sensitivity and aftertouch. To say that the KeyStep is a great little controller is an understatement.

Keystep is the perfect controller in a compact format.

Fits your equipment set!

KeyStep was conceived and designed to be a trump card in the hands of today's musician.

No matter what equipment the set-up consists of, KeyStep will perfectly fit into it to increase the efficiency of creative processes. With the KeyStep and its multitude of connectors, you'll be able to control any digital or analog synthesizer of the past, present, and even future. Sequence everything!

KeyStep: a direct path to the goal

Sometimes simplicity is the key to effectiveness and the best way to materialize an idea into sounds. KeyStep's design is entirely based on this concept. A direct path to the goal, flight over limitations and an opportunity for musicians - these are the ambitions invested in KeyStep. Regardless of whether you use analog or digital equipment, KeyStep will allow you to reach a new level of creativity.

Art

Never before has a portable keyboard controller contained so many functions.

It is very nice to have many devices, plugins and modules. This is not a secret for anyone. However, nothing is more frustrating than accumulating equipment without being able to use it to its full potential. KeyStep allows you to find control over all equipment.

Implementation

Like its siblings BeatStep and BeatStep Pro, KeyStep is a representative of a new generation of portable controllers that allow musicians to free themselves from the computer, in particular, in the conditions of live performance.

KeyStep is the epitome of spontaneity and immediacy, it strengthens the connection between the musician and the audience during the concert. Every feature has been designed to meet the expectations and needs of performing musicians. There are also the functions of rewriting sequences in real time, the function of simple change of sequences and the possibility of simultaneous execution and creation of sequences.

KeyStep will give an unprecedented scale to your performances.
