Product information
The Arcam HDA SA20 integrated amplifier, which replaces the FMJ A29 model, belongs to the latest HDA (High Definition Audio) series and currently holds the flagship position.
The main feature of the model is its operation in Class G, which allows for more efficient power distribution. The specific nature of this design is that the amplifier operates in pure Class A up to 20 watts per channel, and then transitions to Class AB. The Arcam HDA SA20 features a thoughtfully designed linear power supply, providing a maximum power output of 90 watts per channel into 8 ohms. The model utilizes high-quality components in its circuits. This well-equipped and innovative amplifier has sufficient power reserves to drive demanding speaker systems and boasts a very low coefficient of nonlinear distortion.
The Arcam HDA SA20 is equipped with a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) featuring the renowned audiophile-grade ESS9038K2M chip (more efficient than the one used in the lower model of the series, the SA10), which transforms this model into a full-fledged external DAC. For this purpose, the rear panel of the chassis is equipped with a set of digital inputs, including a pair of coaxial inputs and one optical input. The amplifier also includes a built-in phono stage, allowing for the connection of vinyl turntables equipped with MM cartridges. If necessary, the phono stage inputs can be switched to regular line-level inputs.
The amplifier distinguishes itself from its predecessors with an entirely new design executed in an industrial style while retaining the signature Arcam component aesthetics. The chassis provides reliable protection against vibrations. The front panel features a headphone output (mini-jack) and an analog Aux input (3.5mm). The rear panel houses three unbalanced line-level inputs and a Pre Out output for connecting power amplifiers or subwoofers. It includes an RS-232 interface for integration into a specialized control system and a LAN port for IP control and use with the proprietary Musiclife app, which can be installed on iOS devices. The amplifier is also supplied with an illuminated programmable universal remote control. For charging USB devices and firmware updates, a USB port is available, and four high-quality screw terminals located in a row are provided for speaker connections.
